Connection Through the Lens

My dad handed me his camera when I was ten years old, and I don't think I've gone very long without one in my hands since.

Back then, photography was my escape. I was the quiet, introverted kid who'd happily wander around taking photos of trees, bugs, random flowers, and any animal that let me get close enough. (Yes, my camera roll was a little crazy.) I bounced between different mediums, but film photography always had my heart. There was something so honest about it. No endless retakes. No hiding behind edits or manufactured perfection. Just a moment, exactly as it happened.

As I got older, I started exploring digital photography and eventually picked up my DSLR. My first portrait session was an underwater shoot with one of my best friends in high school. What started as a creative outlet slowly became something much bigger.

I realized that authenticity wasn't exclusive to film. A digital camera could capture the same raw emotion, the same fleeting moments, and the same stories that made me fall in love with photography in the first place.

Somewhere along the way, photography stopped being my escape and became my way of connecting with people. Every person who steps in front of my camera brings a different story, a different energy, and a different perspective. My job isn't to squeeze you into the same poses everyone else uses. It's to create something that actually feels like you.

In a world that feels increasingly disconnected, I found that my camera has a way of bringing people together. It gives people permission to be themselves, celebrate who they are, and preserve moments that deserve to be remembered. What once served only me became something I could share with everyone who stepped in front of my lens.

That's why I do what I do.

Sure, getting an absolutely killer shot is a pretty great feeling (and trust me, we'll get those). But what matters most is giving people a space to express parts of themselves they don't always get to share. If my work helps you feel seen, confident, or lets you express a part of yourself that doesn't always get the spotlight, then I've done exactly what I set out to do.

After all... a picture is worth a thousand words. I just hope mine helps tell your story.

(by the way, that’s me on the right. hi!)

Let’s Create Something. Together.

Every session begins with a conversation. Tell me what you're dreaming up, and we'll build something that's uniquely yours. I can't wait to hear your story and create something unforgettable together. (Fully formed ideas are not required, you and I can brainstorm!)
